When we’re talking about the weight loss/working out journey, there are three little words we say to ourselves, that can be dangerous to any progress that we’re trying to make. What are those words?
I don’t care.
Maybe it comes a couple weeks into our new program, when we might not be seeing the results we want and a chocolate bar (or insert your favorite thing) comes along. For a brief second, we say “you know what, I just don’t care”….we don’t even need to finish that sentence and down goes the chocolate bar. Maybe we’ve been working out for a while, has seen some results but we’re tired and think “how bad can it be?, I just don’t care” and down goes the chocolate.
Now, guess what happens. We eat the whatever it is and for hot second felt happiness, joy and satisfaction. However, one second after it’s gone, we realize WE DO CARE!!! We care about doing our best. We care about what we eat. We care about hitting our goals.
So in those times, take a moment and hear what our brains are trying to tell us. Know we must fight like crazy to stay on track and break old habits. On the way down, we need to be more consistent than we will be once we reach our goals. Be aware of the inner dialogue we continually tell ourselves and listen for the “I don’t care” moments. It will be life changing.
