Losing weight takes time. It’s something we all know, but as soon as we start an exercise program, we want the results yesterday. Am I right? Totally! So here’s the trick….remaining patient and focused at the same time. If we don’t, the possibility of becoming anxious about your results can sneak in so quietly.
Anxiety can be the #1 killer of all progress. Sometimes it happens when we think we should be getting faster results. Sometimes it sneaks in after we’ve had some success but our bodies have gone into a rest stage. What is a “rest stage”? We refer to it as plateauing or stalling. It’s simply a time our bodies are readjusting. But instead of realizing it’s a small bump, we stress, we fret and we start looking for every other answer that could help except for keeping our head down and staying consistent. Anxiety can make us lose focus and could make us not care enough to track what we’re eating. It also causes stress on the inside and shuts down any kind of momentum we had. It is among the top reasons I have seen make progress stop in its tracks.
How do we stay out of the anxious/stressful stages? ACTION. Action is the one thing that will keep us moving forward. Remain diligent to your plan. Keep your head down and stay focused on what needs to happen. You will get there, enjoy the journey because the hard work you put in, will make you love the results that much more.
